WELCOME TO HOCKLIFFE LOWER SCHOOL

International School Award

Almost Three years have passed since the school achieved the ISA award. During those years our international work has gone from strength to strength as the pictures and articles below show.. This year we will be applying for the award again so watch this space to learn about the exciting global learning we are involved in.

The children in Class 3 are dressed up in their country dance costumes. When the visitors came from Senegal and Uganda the children performed some traditional English country dances for them.

The school gained the International School Award in 2006. The school held a celebration where the children showed parents and other guests around the school, proudly explaining about the work they had done towards it. The picture shows a child from each of the four year groups, with Mrs Benger who led the school in its work and our local MP Andrew Selous holding the certificate and global award.

Through the Connecting Classrooms project some teachers from Uganda came to visit for a week. They brought many gifts and artefacts to help our children learn about the schools in this African country.

We held an African Musical Concert where the children, parents and friends enjoyed listening to, watching and having a go at drumming, playing the thumb piano and dancing.

The children learned Drumming and Dance from the Punjab one morning. In the afternoon they performed their skills to their parents. Everyone loved it!

The children from Gilbert Inglefield Middle School are helping our children work on Rafiki, a system that allows the children to email other boys and girls from around the world.
